12 THE OSHAWA TIMES, Saturday, February 6, 1963 Church Commemorates 108 Years In Oshawa One hundred and eight years of church life were commemo- rated Tuesday at the congrega- tional meeting of King Street United Church. Rey, L. Wesley Herbert called the mee! to order. Vernon Osborne led the congregation in a hymn-sing, assisted by Rhyd- did Williams at the piano. The 13th Cub Pack presented the Grand Howl. Scripture reading by Rev. Herbert was taken from the 15th chapter of Corinthians. The In-Memoriam for 37 mem- bers and adherents who had passed away during 1964 was read by Robert Brown, followed by prayer. The CGIT, under the leader- ship of Mrs L. W. Herbert and Mrs. A. Schryburt, portrayed their purpose of Allegiance to Christ and the hand of service stretched out to all peoples through their creed, hymn and candlelighting service. Mrs. Herbert spoke of the 50,000 Ca- nadian Girls In Training across' Canada who are sharing with girls in other countries in this 50th anniversary year to help build a Christian Conference Centre for teenagers in Indo- nesia. OFFICERS ELECTED Howard Brown gave the re- port of thé nominating commit- tee. New members to the Board of Session are Robert Osborne, George Blayone, Harold Cam- eron, Lyn Henderson, Howard Smith and John McLean. New members to the Board of Stew- ards are Ralph Day, Richard Davis, Harold Barker, Archie Dewey, Will am _ Johnston, Frank Burrows and Clifford Smith. The chairman for the evening was Robert Brown; sec- retary, Gordon Hawker; and press reporter, Frank Burrows. presented a budget for $47,665 which was accepted. Robert Singleton gave a resume of the activites of the different organ- izations in the church for 1964. Receipts for the year totalled $63,254 including missionary and maintenarce and church exten- sion.
