Where can I read up on it, or can you write alittle about it?--MRS. F.D. The public library would have technical information -- the general subject with toxicity of volatile hydrocarbons. But for more immediate pur- poses, what needs to be known is that such hydrocarbon fumes are dangerous except in dilute amounts. These hydrocarbons include gasoline, lighter fluid, the bad- smelling carbon tetra-chloride, and various related solvents which evaporate readily and are used to dissolve the sticky glues, In nature, the solvents are much the same as those used in some rust - removing oils, some cleaning fluids and other such products. Fumes From Glue Can Be Dangerous A faint whiff of the odor, with plenty of fresh air to dilute the fumes, will do no harm. But sniffing or deliberately smelling the concentrated fumes can very quickly do damage, and sometimes the damage is per- manent, Death is possible.
