t { H 4 G_THE OSHAWA TINS, Tueedey, November 10, ROVER SCOUT NEWS 'D. M. Rose Crew Gains 'Experience Out of Doors. . 1th OSHAWA D.M. ROSE K ROVER CREW 'It's just about that hour again @hen all you readers out there have to sit and endure another tweor three minutes of rot from masterful pen of this reporter. fr our last column the writer who scribbles this piece of prose decided that you folks would hear all the gory details of the crew's overnight journey into fame and stardom. However, that has all been changed. The authorities who plot the courses ofthe great nations of this world have decided that the read- ers of this column shall be) denied the privilege of hearing how our dedicated skipper led hig 'courageous band by com- s and intuition right into the werglades of Ontario! Then too, you won't be told how Gregg felt so full of energy that he fan almost all the way and was ready to go for a midnight stroll as well! It is quite safe, though, to) assume that the next few choice morsels of information will pass thfough the censorship of the pritie minister and the presi- dent, The reporter is allowed to tel] you how eight stalwart souls i@ directions on a citizens' 4 radio which enabled Jiggs, Hi , Sr. and Mike to become as no one has ever been before! PORCUPINE INCIDENT It. is the duty of this reporter te 'tell you how Farmer decided to terrorize a poor, innocent, ine which was only just ming to gnaw on May- nard's leg. His vicious attack with apples was cruel and un- The walk from the Clark monument to the bustling met- ropolis of Kirby was uneventful except for the splitting off of various groups according to thier own senses of direction. "Your're crazy Snowdon, north is that way" A monumental discovery was made when one of the groups stumbled onto, or more probably into a beaver ipond containing trout "this long."' Throughout the whole in- cident Bottomely was walking around asking everybody if they liked fish. He was especially interested in Perch! PAUL BUNYON ACT Everyone got a chance to act like a lumber jack recently, You know, chopping down trees, bare chest, checked shirt, big boots, the whole bit. Most of the super- vising work was done by Paul Bunyan's brother Ron and most of the working work by the big blue ox Hans. Anyhow, we done }laid in our winter fuel fer the fyerplace. Actually it is not really finished but we only have to saw up two fifty foot logs and that shouldn't take us much more that ten years! Last Friday night the Crew attended the Scout meeting and showed movies and slides of rovering activities. Not only were the Scouts entertained in this simple fashion but we have talked to Barnum and Bailey and have arranged to have the boys set up shop in the parish hall, Besides charging admis- sion at the entrance we can make more money selling nose plugs at the exit doors. Just before the happy event of departure becomes a reality warranted. If it wasn't for the fact that Al has the worst arm in the crew I would have called thé SPCA. Breakfast was rela- tee dull except for the foot- bali: game which began rather spontaneously and ended almost as quickly when Gower became unjustifiably angry because he had to eat his eggs off the ground. Juggs would like to extend a special vote of thanks for all the hostile letters he has received from his readers in Peking and Moscow. "JIGGS" Henry Street Senior Team Wins Title By JUDY TUSHINGHAM, JOANNE HAY and JANE RODDIS On Nov. 5, the Henry Street High School senior football team won the LOSSA Championship. Playing the second of two de- ciding games, they tied. Com- bined with Henry's score in the first game of the series, 26-0, Henry, thereby, earns the right to represent this zone in the COSSA Championship on Wed- nesday, Nov. 11. In the hard fought Courtice game, Henry was challenged by an exhibition of fine passing by the Courtice backfield. Their failure to convert passes into touchdowns enabled Henry to earn a tie in the game. Mr. King, coach of the Henry team, deserves credit for again bringing the Henry team to the LOSSA finals, JUNIOR TEAM WINS Henry's junior football team were victorious in a close game with Courtice, Nov. 3. In the first half, the Henry squad com- pletely dominated the play. Henry's quarterback, George McCaffrey, opened the scoring with a touchdown on a "keeper"' play. Tony Sala made a drama- tic 15-yard run only to be tackl- ed on Courtice's three-yard line. However, Tony completed the three yards, adding six points. Both touchdowns were uncon- verted, leaving the half-time score. at 12-0 for Henry. Courtice, in the second half, jmade her comeback. .
