The dinner was sponsored by Durham Lodge, AF and AM to mark his fortieth anniversary as a District Deputy Grand Master. Mr. Rickard's services to his community, his lodge, and the Country generally were re- viewed by several speakers and as a token of the high esteem sented with an_ illuminated scroll by S. Britton and P; Hare 'on behalf of those assembled. In accepting the presentation Mr. Rickard traced the history of Durham Lodge and the dis- trict, paying particular tribute to the early pioneers of both Lodge and district. Be- dell trophy for gaining -the highest marks in home -nurs- ing; and Miriam Brown, who received the John Visser tro- phy for proficiency in the his- tory of the Order of St. John. Charter Night For Members It was charter night for 11 members of the Whitby St. John Ambulance Cadet Division last night at a special ceremony held at; King street schooi. The enrolment of the 11 local girls came after months of pa- tient study. The presentation of certificates and special awards at the ceremony were made by Mrs. Peter Robinson, Superin- tendent in Chief for the whole of Canada and Mr, Charles Sim- mons, the area commissioner.
