By Geo. H. Campbell SPORTS EDITOR 'Everything From Soup To Nuts' : JIM BOUTON became the first pitcher in the current World Series to win two games and unless Bob Gibson or Roger Craig can match that goal, in the game today, it looks a} if the New York Yankees will take the World Series title back off the National League, The final seventh game of this "#4 classic will, of course, be an alll-out effort by both man- agers and teams. There's no tomorrow and they'll have practically every eligible pitcher on their roster warmed and ready to work -- and the only hurlers who will not be consid- eked eligible will be those on the ailing list -- plus likely Bou- ton and Simmons -- and oh yes -- Barney Schultz, Cardinals' great relief hurler performed yoeman work, next thing to heroics in fact, in the final weeks of the campaign, to play a Major role in the St. Louis climb to the top of the National League ladder. But outside of his first. appearance in. this series, he has been something less than effective and Yankee Wats have "boomed" -- ever since Mantle won that 2-1 game in the 9th inning. At any rate, we, the TV audience, have have the full measure of World Series entertainment, thanks te the home-run work of the American League champs, in yesterday's sixth game. The M-and-M (candy kids?) of the Yankee roster came through with back-to-back circuit clouts yesterday to break up the 1-1 deadlock and start the begin- ning-of-the-end for Curt Simmons, Of course it was Joe Pepi- tone's grand-slammer that clinched it, but from the moment they tied it up yesterday, Yanks gave the impression of being confident and headed for victory, In the much -smaller ball yard, New York's long-ball hitters have the edge. Our own thinking is that the Cardinals, heralded as a team that won games all year by their speed and base-running, have done practically nothing in the way of "'running" since the first game of the series, If this is one of their big weapons, they'd better use it today -- because the Yankees are going to try to make full use of their war clubs -- their best weapon. Just remembered -- by the time you are reading this -- it'll @ll be over, s0-0-0-0 ! ' x x x x HOCKEY FANS across t&e country are jibber-jabbering this morning. . Word is out that Ted Lindsay is going to do @ comeback. This has got to be something new in hockey history, because he played 16 seasons in the NHL -- turned pro right after playing his last Junior hockey with the Osh- awa Generals ~ and he's been retired since he quit the Black Hawks, back in the spring of 1960. He was one of those who Was moved out of the Detroit Red Wing camp and traded to Chicago, at a time when there were several "'peculiar'? moves made among the Red Wings, Lindsay never did show with the Hawks as he had in a Detroit uniform. But now at 39, he's going to try a comeback. It'll be a miracle if he really clicks, but "Terrible Ted" is just the type of determined athlete that could make it. The secret is out now that he has been practising with the Wings for over a month, He's going to be in the line-up tonight, against Toronte Leafs, Something else worth noting -- this will be his 1,000th game in the NHL. ~ SPORTS Lawn Bowlers Ended Season CALENDAR | With Titney' ag members of the Oshawa Metro Junior "B" OHA Lea.|{@Wn Bowling Club held their (Exhibition Game) -- North/final jitmey toumament of Pog ork Leafs vs Whitby Dunlops,|Senson on as pol at Whitby Arena, 8.00 p.m. pact is the three a CURLING Lunch was served Annual fall meeting of Osh- ladies between the second and awa Curling Club (Men's Sec-|\thind g mes.
