MAJCHER Councillor Wants Police To Cool Local Dragsters Park Vista motorists who use their newly-paved roads special sections on the Carlo Rally are worry- ing Whitby Town Councillor Tommy Edwards, "Something should be done," he protested at the Council meet- ing last night. "Euclid street is another bad spot. Anyone would think it was a drag strip. They really zoom down there. "And at Park Vista where, as you know, they have just had their roads paved -- anyone would think they were on the Monte Carlo Rally the speed they travel at. "T have had several com- plaints from residents in the area about this speed. "Considering the number of children down there something should be done. The town police should get their radar trap equipment down there and start stopping these people." NEW SPEED LIMIT Speeding motorists on busy Rossland road are also worry- ing Town Council, So much so, in fact, that they are going to take action before someone gets hurt. The road is difficult in that half of it is in Whitby Town- ship and the other half in the Town limits, But this is not put- ting off the Council. At its meeting council decid- ed to post 30-miles-per-hour signs on their half of the road to replace the existing "50" signs. Half a speed limit is bet- ter than none at all, seemed to be the attitude. Thus, a% soon as the signs appear it will be '30' on Whitby's half of the road travel- ling east and "50" travelling west in the Whitby Township half of the road.
