Florida and Georgia, shaken earlier by hurricane Cleo, took .a. multi-million dollar pounding from Dora's winds and resulting floods, then waited in apprehension for the possibility of a third blow, ° this time from _ hurricane Ethel spinning slowly in from the Atlantic. As Dora lost strength after moving inland Thursday, ty- phoon Sally sideswiped Hong Kong and triggered a land- slide that killed six persons .and injured eight. Sally's toll stood at eight dead and 30 injured. Hurricane Dora gave Jack- sonyille and St.. Augustine, Fla., and Brunswick, Ga., their worst beatings from a hurricane in this century, All battered sections of the two states were declared major disaster areas. ' Damage to the beach area at Jacksonville alone was set at $14,500,000. The worst destruction was cause by flooding which was waist deep in St. Augustine during high tide.
