POLICE EVIDENCE According to the Ajax Police Department the Sherrin Ambu- lance was called by them and had arrived at the scene sec- onds after the McEachnie ambu- lance arrived. The McEachnie Ambulance was apparently call- ed by the Ajax and Pickering General Hospital. Constable Robert Joel of Ajax police, who investigated fatality, said if he had not seen the Sherrin ambulance coming when the McEachnie vehicle pulled up he would have allowed the McEachnie vehicle to move the boy. He said he felt some obligation to Sherrin because they had been expressly called by the department. At the inquest conducted by Dr. 'W. W. Tomlinson of Pick- ering, Constable Joel testified that he had arrived at the acci- dent scene at 5.04 p.m. on Aug, 21 and had observed the boy serious! yinjured, lying in the ~ a on the southwest corner of \the intersection. Joel said he had requested an ambulance and that the Sherrin ambulance had arrived at 5.10 p.m. and removed the lad to the Ajax and Pickering General Hospital. Two vehicles, one driven by John Montgomery which struck the bicycle and swerved and struck a car driven by Grant Yarrow, 173 Tulloch drive, Ajax were on the scene when he arrived. Damage to the two vehicles totalled $1,300. Mr. Montgomery, an attendant at the Ontario Hospital in Whit- by, told the inquest he was trav- elling east on Bayley street at about 20 to 30 mph and that he did not see the cyclist until he} was right in front of his wind-| shield. He said it was drizzling) rain at the time, that he was} familiar with the area and that he had been driving for 40 years. He said police arrived very) quickly after the accident.
