Ajax council last night decid- ed to construct the park south of the present municipal build- purchi 'ing. Of the total cost, Local taxpayers will contribute $8,000. '\Federal and provincial centen- :| nial grants will cover the $16,000 balance. The other Centennial pro- posal, a new arena, was ruled out because it will probably be constructed before 1967. The arena project is presently under study. The park might also include a memorial fountain. A number of fountain designs were re- cently presented to council by Ajax high school students. SEWER REPORT In a letter to council, the engineering firm of Walvin Ltd., reported that sewers in the north end of town above the Highway 401 had been con- structed during the war and were not sufficiently deep for houses with basements., The sewers were laid on the side of the road rather than in the middle and were now fre- quently being clogged up by toria, from the London, Eng- land, plant of Josephine Tus- saud and company. --(CP Photo) Port Perry Public School Annual Field Day PORT PERRY -- The annual field day Boys' SACK RACES at the Port Perry Public Schoo} was an}-9 Yrs. -- Cal.
