Arena. Jerry Burrows was the leading goal-getter for the Brookiin team with four goals, his best output of the season. It was, however, the fine playmaking of rt nan who scored two goals and assisted on five more that brought the fans to their feet; on a number of occasions. Ken Ruttan and captain Glen Lotton each scored twice with. lone counters going to Ken Lotton and Bob Hanna. Terry Downer and Paul Clancy sparked the losers of- fence with two goals each while Joe Todd helped the losing cause with one goal each. Russ Dunn in the losers cage was hit with a hard drive off the stick of Ken Ruttan right on the chin midway through the second period. The shot all but KO'd the big fellow. Dunn, however, showing considerable fortitude shook off the blow after a rest of about three minutes to play inspired lacrosse and got sev- eral well-deserved rounds of applause for his work. The Erng and Brooklin have been keen rivals all season and Saturday night was no excep- tion. Both teams were fired up for the game, knowing full well that the two points at stake could be the deciding ones for the playoff spots. The fleet-footed Heffernan picked up one goal and four assists in the first period to spark the locals to a 6-0 lead. (AP) Thirty men, women and chil- dren watched in horror Satur- Gey night as a full-grown male lion attacked and killed its 7¢- year-old trainer at a children's amusement park near here. Capt. Ernest Engerer, a na- tive of Munich, West Germany, had just started the evening performance when the lion at- tacked. He had placed the lion on a pedestal and had snapped bis whip as a signal for two female lions to enter the cage. As he snapped the whip, En- gerer stepped back, tripped and fell to the floor of the cage, said Charles Jackson, assistant manager of the amusement park, The male lion jumped from the pedestal and grabbed the trainer around the neck, pierc- ing his jugular vein, The lion mauled Engerer's body for more than 20 minutes before Forsyth County sheriff's deputies and Winston-Salem po- lice killed him with four blasts from a shotgun and four bursts from a sub-machine-gun.
