HORACE BELL In failing health for two years Mrs. Horace Bell died Saturday, June 20, at Hillsdale Manor. She was in her 87th year. The former Amanda Marion Chamberlin, the deceased was a daughter of the late Bethuel and Frances Chamberlin. She was born Dec. 9, 1877 at South Stukley, Quebec and was mar- ried there in 1897. A resident of Oshawa for 15 years, she had previously lived in India, She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and was a charter mem- ber of the first Seventh-day Ad- ventist Church in Canada at South Stukley, Quebec. Predeceased by her husband in 1934, Mrs. Bell is survived by two daughters, Mrs. A. Sim- cock (Stella) and Mrs. E. Wage- mann (Sylvia) of Oshawa and a son, Grant, of Montreal. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mrs. E. Fessenden (Marion) of Oshawa. Mrs. Bel] rested on Sunday at the MclIntosh-Anderson Fu- neral Home. The funeral ser- vice will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home, South Stukley, Quebec, Tuesday, June 23 In- terment will be in Creek Ceme- tery, Foster, Quebec. Pastor W. He was in his 67th year. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs.) Samuel Mahaffy, he was born in Ireland in 1897. He married the former Christina Bell in To- ronto in 1924. He has been a resident of Osh- awa for the past four years. Toronto, he has lived in Can- ada for the past 54 years. Mr. Mahaffy was employed by the Unemployment Insurance Commission for nine years. He belonged to the Patricia Ma- sonic Lodge in Toronto. During; the First World War, he served| overseas with the 116th Battal-| ion. He is survived by his wife, the former Christina Mahaffy; five daughters, Mrs. Ross Carleton (Shirley) of Oshawa, Mrs. Rob- ert Ravaray (Carolyn) of Osh- awa, Mrs. Norman Fraser (Joan) of Toronto, Miss Lois Mahaffy of Oshawa, and Mrs. Diana Davies of Oshawa and one son, Bruce Mahaffy of Whit- by. ARTHUR RIDLEY WAILES Arthur Ridley Wailes, 57 Bil- lingsgate crescent, Ajax, died suddenly at his residence Sat- urday, June 20, following a short illness. He was in his 44th year. The son of the late George Arthur and Hannah Maude Wailes, he was born in Castle- side, County Durham, England, in 1920. He married the former Jean Young, at Crook, County Durham, in 1943. Mr. Wailes came to Canada in 1951. He was a member of Unity Ledge, No. 606, and a compan- ion of St. Alban's Chapter, Royal Arch Masons, No, 217, GRC. He attended the Angli- can Church of the Holy Trinity in Ajax. Mr. Wailes is survived by his wife, Jean: two daughters, Miss Heather Wailes and Miss Kim Wailes and two sons, Ian and Thomas Wailes, 'of Ajax. Two sisters, Mrs. Irene Lat- cham of England and Mrs. Au- drey White of Eng!and, also sur- vive. , He is resting at the William E. Sherrin Funeral Home, High- way 2, Pickering. Mr. Gannon, 77, died at Trenton Memorial Hospital last Satur- day, following an illness of seven years. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Wm. (Kathleen) Thomp- son and three sons, Leon, Frank and Dennis, all of Trenton.
