THE OSHAWA TIMES, Vednesday, June 10, 1964 ee ye Borderline Sex Over Stations OTTAWA (CP) -- All radio stations in Canada have been directed by the Board of Broad- cast Governors not to discuss on the air before 10:30 p.m. such borderline topics as pros- titution, homosexuality and les-|. bianism. The directive, sent "May 27, resulted from listener protests to the board regarding an open- line radio program. In this pro- gram, listeners phoned the sta- tion ang discussed with the mod- erator, or disc jockey, almost any subject that came to mind, including borderline sex topics. The board took up the matter with the station owner and 'the program moderator, suggesting such phone calls be diverted to the period after 10:30 p.m., when younger children have re- tired. The board's was accepted willingly and is re- ported to have been successful to date. The directive said: "The board therefore directs that other radio stations follow the same practice. If a tele- phone caller introduces such borderline topics, the modera-) tor should interrupt and ask) him or her to call back after) 10:30 p.m." j GM Subsidiary Shifts Plants Due To Boom TORONTO (CP)--A need for more space at McKinnon Indus- tries Ltd, in St. Catharines has led General Motors Corp. to transfer its radio, shock ab- sorber and horn departments from the St. Catharines plant to Frigidaire Products of Canada Ltd. in suburban Scarborough, a spokesman for McKinnon In- dustries said Tuesday.
