Seventeen mem- bers were present. 'Christian Family Life" was the theme of the devotional period. Mrs. James Scott continued! the study of India. She told a story illustrating the value of agricultural missionaries in Christian missions. The young missionary in the story show- ed some individual farm families how to conserve water from spring floods to ir- rigate their land. This improved their crops, raised their stan- dard of living and strengthened their Christian faith. The UCW bus trip to Colling- wood on June 25 will tour '"Geor- gian China" -and "Blue Moun- tain" potteries. The bus will leave the Church at. 8.00 a.m. | and the fare will be $3.50. She addressed the May meeting on the subject "When a Child Asks." Miss Edwards has done con- siderable work in various mis- sion fields especially in outly- ing parts of Newfoundland. At present she is the editor and producer of the well-known nationwide radio program "When a Child Asks" and) "Tell Us a Story." During her talk, Miss Ed- wards mentioned several ques- tions which were frequently brought up by children re- garding religion and _ social problems. She dealt with what were considered to be the best ways of answering such ques- tions. Miss Edwards also dem- onstrated the way she con- ducted her Saturday morning program and she was assisted in this by two panels made up of club members, - | The meeting opened with a worship service led by Mrs. Alan P. Dickson, and Mrs. Ralph W. Vandervoort and Mrs. Richard Libby during which Mrs. Walter H. Bestwick sang a solo.
