GOLDEN daffodils, symbol of hope and emblem of the Canadian Cancer Society, Hat Show at Daffodil Tea Gives Hope For Brighter Days Ahead To the tuneful and topical background music of Mrs. - George Morgan, a group of charming models displayed with professional ease and grace the latest spring and summer hat fashions to a large audience seated around the tea tables in Memorial Hall, Simcoe Street United Church, on Wednesday afternoon. The occasion was the annual Daffodil Tea of the Ontario County Unit (Oshawa Branch) of the Canadian Can- cer Society. As an introduction to the hat Show Mrs. Walter Bestwic k} sang some amusingly descrip-| tive verses composed by the ac-| companist, Mrs. Morgan, link-| ing the various styles to be) shown with well-known. popular) rd songs. Mrs. Alfred Austin ably fill- ed the role of commentator, in- troducing the models and giving) a running commentary on the} style, material and trim of| each hat shown, interspersing her remarks with observations on this season's style trends. She pointed out that the new larger hat and higher crown were flattering and easy wear. This style was seen in a na- tural beige chipped straw with large brim and high crown in softly draped mink-toned -- jer- sey. An all-white Baku straw, light and airy for summer, had the new upturned, off-the-face brim. Polka dots are popular| this year. This was indicated by a hat with navy blue brim and high puffed crown of navy blue and white polka dots. | Of particular interest were the smaller suit hats in navy < s compliment the sunny smiles Mrs, John Pierson and Mrs, and summery hats modelled ). "His and Hers" kitchen! Not a bad notion at all to bring that outdoor chef de cui- sine into the house and Jet him try his hand at real cooking. Anyway, at the recent Deco- ration and Design Show, there was on display a "His" and "Hers" kitchen and it attracted quite = bit of attention and not only from the distaff side. How did i work? Well, the kitchen was divided right down the middle by a big work counter, which, in turn, was divided lengthwise by poles supporting open shelves. He has his own sink, she has the question of who should wash and who should wipe. Even with an avtomatic dishwasher, there are always utensils to be} cleaned the "primitive" way as) preparation of the meal gets un- derway and the pots pile up. CULINARY HARMONY Separate ovens set into the walls, separate pots and pans, bowls and other items, and sep- arate color schemes further contribute to complete marital and culinary harmony. Simulated wood laminates in| dark tones make a handsome masculine. setting for him, while her work area is completely feminine, made so by pastel laminates on the walls and other surfaces. The overall re- sult is extremely. pleasing, yet practical. | @ FREE PICK-UP @ BONDED DRIVER @ FREE ESTIMATES _ desired -- immediate service 48 SIMCOE ST, NORTH hers--which immediately settles COLD FUR STORAGE oommmmmmmms ON THE PREMISES cen Repairs & Remodelling By Expert Furriers ' -725-6312 MORRISON FUR CO.
