Jack O berman, Manitoba middle heavyweight champion for the last two years, says "the way I feel right now I could go on for another five or six years in competitive lift- ing." He broke into the sport at 15 in Winnipeg and won the West- ern Canada light-heavyweight title two years later in 1940. The war intervened and he joined the services. After it was over, Oberman found interest in the sport lagging but kept in shape by exercising. In a 1953 workout he slipped a disc in his back, underwent years of chiropractic treatment and resumed lifting gradually to build up his injury-weakened back, Friends kidded him into mak- ing a comeback in competitive lifting and he began serious work on the weights 18 months ago.
