A contest to promote "Hag- gis" sales was won by 10C. This was the first clas$ in which everyone purchased a copy of the yearbook and they will each receive an ice cream sundae as their prize. Congrat- ulations to 10C and to Terry Glecoff, their form representa- tive, who was responsible for the sales! At assembly last Wednesday, Mr. Roberts brought it to our attention that MCVI had been chosen as the school of the month to be found in the Cana- dian School Journal. Copies of this journal were sold to the students. He also told us that four men, two of them archi- tects, came up from Quebec during the Easter holidays to tour the school and _ possibly gain some ideas for their own designs. We certainly have a school to be proud of. On April 9, a busload of Mc- Laughlin - students went _ to O'Keefe Centre to see the play 'Man of All Seasons." This was of particular interest to our present Grade 12 students as this will be the upper-school modern drama next year. JUNIOR PROM Everyone should be planning to aitend the Junior Prom to be held April 17. This is the one big dance for the Juniors although Seniors are also invit- ed and tickets at $2.50 a couple may be obtained from members of the committee. There will be a film showing of Hamlet Monday, April 20 at 7.30 at McLaughlin Collegiate. This applies to all schools espe- cially for Grade 13 students. By JAMES McPEAK (Staff. Reporter) The 50-50 Club, a_ Friday night dance at the Oshawa Recreation Centre, may turn into a social club for out-of- school young people. When it is in full swing, the club will be headquartered in the Oshawa Recreation Centre, 100 Gibb street. NAME EXPLAINED Members of the 50-50 club are young people who do not go to school. but have not reached full adulthood, and that is how the name was chosen. It is hoped that more people in this category will start to attend the weekly dances, held on Friday nights at the ORC, and will bring as thir guests, teenagers who do go to school. This will be the only way that the latter group will be able to attend and enjoy the dances. Once enough members of the 50-50 club show interest in _ starting of the social club, the supervisors at the ORC will go Youth On Loose Can Form Club the out-of-school youth in Osh- awa and district will start to attend. : The social club will be run by the members who show the greatest interest to the super- visors of the ORC. Once these members | have been elected to the different offices, they will be supervised and given help in the form of ideas and advice by the ORC. At the present time, the plans include the setting up of lounges that will have dart boards, chess sets, card tables, and other numerous ways of passing. the time. If these things do not interest you, then you can just sit on a lounge and talk and pass away the evening that way. It is hoped by the ORC, that Hamlet will also be seen on Channel 6 April 15 at 9.30 p.m. By the end of the year we should know this play by heart, since we have also had the op- portunity of seeing it at the Crest Theatre and the O'Keefe Centre. The Limelighters, our drama club, are going to Toronto April 27 to see the play, 'The Little Foxes", at The Crest. April 24 and 2 wil feature 'Variety Night'? at MCVI, This promises to be an interesting evening of entertainment. so keep one of these evenings free and come out and enjoy the show. everything, but it's true. It seems there are a few idle 12's and 13's who have so little to do in their lunch hours (when they get one, that is) that new forms of entertain ment have been divised to keep their minds occupied. This new club requires the use of only one ping-pong ball and two joined cafeteria tables, plus several, or even a numer- ous number of players. The idea is to get your opponent eliminated by blowing the ball off his side or portion of the table, not using the hands, of course. It has helped pass away many fine hours, while at the same time providing laugh after laugh. f The facial expressions pro duced here are invaluable, especially since most students have just finished their lunches.
