ee eee Koo ge as are Acadian Cleaners Leading Playoffs In Toronto Mens Major The top six clubs of the To- ronto City Men's Major five-pin League opened their 1963-64 team championship playoffs, at Willow Bowl, and after the first five-game set, it was Osh- awa Acadian Cleaners in the lead with a brilliant 6919 total. Rated as the underdog club, as far as the league statistics are concerned, the Oshawans certainly staggered their high- ly rated opponents with their highest five-game total since their entry into the league. Acadians started rather slow- ly with a 1287 first game, fol- lowed up with a second game of 1264, then really turned on the heat to come up with 1485, 1573 and 1310 for their next three games, to compile their 6919 total. Ozzie Keeler was next with 1339 for 44 frames and his big ones were 399, 292, 202 and 286; 'Dutch" Lugtenburg racked up 1471 for his five games with 363, 232, 315, 291 and 270; Ron Jay continued some very good trundling with 973 for 38 in- cluding a whopping relief job and also a 315 game. Jim Cassels also starred both in relief and as a starter with 890 for 33 and two relief stints in the third and fifth games respectively. It was fine bowling by the boy from Fair- port Beach. Bob Gallagher had consider- able trouble but he battled gamely for 857 for 37 frames and seldom left a pin standing.
