LEGION AUXILIARY The Ladies' Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43, held a social evening last Tues- day, with members from Whit- by, Ajax, Claremont and Port Perry Auxiliaries as guests. Mrs, Norman McEvers, presi- dent, welcomed the guests and presided over a short business meeting. Bazaar goods were shown and the date for the bazaar was set for April 28, at 8.00 p.m. It was decided to hold another "Night of Cards" on April 14. Deepest sympathy was ex- pressed for Mrs. Norval Frizzell and family, in the passing of Mr. Frizzell recently. It was reported Zone Com- mander Mrs. Robert Williams is progressing favorably after her recent operation in Oshawa General Hospital. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Frank Davey and card bingo enjoyed by all. KNOX CHURCH WMS (Afternoon Auxiliary) The March meeting of Knox Church WMS Afternoon Auxil- fary was held recently at the home of Mrs. Jack Taylor, Glen- grove street, with the president, Mrs. Malcolm McGregor, pre- siding. The meeting opened with the reading of a poem "Bor- rowed"', A hymn, "O Thou Who Mak- est Souls to Shine' was sung accompanied by Mrs. David Douglas on the piano. The worship period was led by Mrs. Douglas with the scrip- ture reading from Matthew 27, 11-26, followed by a poem '"Ba- rabas' Substitute" and an Eas- ter prayer. Correspondence was read and many invitations received to at- tend the missionary thank-offer- ing services at several district churches, Final plans were discussed for the thank-offering service April 5. Miss Agnes an will be the guest speaker. Mrs. James McConnell, Mrs. G. Fallon and Miss Grace Ken- nedy were reported on the sick list and cards sent out. Mrs. Milton McEachern re- minded members of the bale collection at the May meeting. The study book was given by Miss Leslie Blair and the topic chosen was "Educational Work in India". Refreshments were served by the hostess, Mrs. Jack Taylor. KING STREET UCW 7 The March meeting of the Cheerfulgivers Unit of the King Street UCW was held in the Church parlor. Mrs, Howard Brown, the leader, opened with two poems "The Cross Was His Own" and "'Lillies for Remem- brance"'. An invitation' was - received from the Loyal Workers Unit to join them May 13. A bale will be packed in May and men's and boy's clothing is needed for it. Mrs. William Pierson will give a talk on her recent ob- server tour at the next meeting April 9. Mrs, Clarence Scott led an Easter devotional period by candle-light, using as her theme "Light Out of Darkness" with Easter hymns concluding with the "Old Rugged Cross'. Mrs. Almond Britnell took the members on an imaginary trip to India, where in a popula- tion of 361 million 60 per cent are always hungry. Mrs. J. W. Broadbent and her group served refreshments. PILOT CLUB The Pilot Club of Oshawa is now six years old. President Mrs. Jack Edwards read the invocation and welcomed the visitors at a recent meeting. The meeting was in the charge of Mrs. Grant Pascoe, Chairman of the membership committee and her committee The Club was pleased to have Mrs. P. J. O'Boyle initiated as a new member.
