eens eS ME OSHAWA TIMES, Wednesday, March 18, 1964 Over two thousand young girls and women in Oshawa and Dis- trict wore either the Brownie, Girl Guide Rangers or Guide Leaders uniforms last year. Of these one hundred and forty-two were uniformed leaders, This was one of the important points brought forth at the Oshawa Division's annual meeting re- cently. This group of over two thou- sand was split into seven dis- tricts, each headed by a district commissioner, This was an in- crease of two districts from 'a year ago, Oshawa Division was now, numerically, the largest of the 11 Divisions in Central area, Mrs. D. E. Fox, division commissioner, reported. One of the highlights of the past year was the opening of the addition to Guide House by Col. S$. Mclaughlin. Col. Me- Laughlin not only gave the addi- tion to the Guides, he was a!so reenansible for. the renovation of the original part. This. new addition to Guide House had allowed an expansion of Guide activities and Guide House was busy ever day of the week, During an average month more than 2000 girls and women attended some activity or other in the building, It also had al- lowed the SRS Crusader Crew to return to Guide House last 'fall. For many years the Crew had been meeting at the Sea Cadet Barracks, Oshawa and District Associa- tion for Retarded Children. Mrs. Ralph Boneham, presi- dent of the H and S, made the presentation. --Oshawa Times Photo holme School for Retarded Children, They were advised by Glenholme School in their purchase ,of occupational and educational toys presented to Mr: Arthur Holdsworth, im- mediate past-president of the THE MEMBERS of West- mount Home and School Asso- ciation wanted to do some- thing special to mark the Association's 39th birthday re- cently.
