He~also stated that the tentative date for the annual to go to press was set at April 13. The staff of the Trails is work- ing overtime to combat the dif- ficulties that they face. The resignations of the editor and literary editor made it necessary for an appointment to be made for editor by the nom- inating committee of the SA. They came up with Martin's mame because of his past ex- perience at the position of edi- tor. Other names were present- ed to the student body in the last SA meeting for the position of associate and literary editors. Roberta Crawford was elected to the position of literary editor and Helmer Heghesan was elected as associate editor. The staff photographer, Dale Fessenden,. is 'momentarily swamped with the work of pro- ducing negatives, and prints for the paste-up crew. He is unable to handle any personal photog- ' faphy until after April 13. He must have candid pictures for the graduating classes, action shots of campus fun, work and 'worship; all before April 13. Good luck, . Dale. SUGGEST EDITORS MEET Thursday, March 12, Martin suggested that a meeting be held between all the editors of the Oshawa high school year- books. This session would pro- vide a means of exchanging 'ideas on production methods, printing, paper qualities, and also campaign methods for sell- ing the books. Let's hear from you other editors and see if this plan is acceptable to all. Now a little about the history of Cedar Trails. The first year of production was in 1947. It carried solemn poses of the fac- ulty and student body, and -- candid photos of campus ife. The name Cedar Trails was taken from the once-existant trails that ran through the once abundant cedar trees. The ad- vertisements have not changed much,.with the same businesses represented each year, with a few additions. Th 1953-54 annual was pro- duced with a gold cover com- memorating fifty years of "ser- vice, not fame", Through the years Mr. Pache, the French professor has been of great help through his artis- tic and advisory talents. The Trails is a major part of the SA budget, absorbing nearly $2,500 each year. It is bought by the students, alumni mem- bers and any other interested persons. It is also sent to other Seventh Day Adventist colleges in exchange. for the one sent from there, So you can see that it. plays an important role in public rela- tions. Keep your eyes open for the soon coming -- May 25, 1964 -- of the Kingsway College yearbook, Cedar Trails. Ketreat Held By St. Joe's Students By MARY nse einige On Thursday at 9 a.m., students of St. Joseph's High began their retreat. Before I write the procedure of the two days, I will try to explain what a retreat is. Like aH young people whether Cath- olic or Protestant, we never seem to have enough time. This is why we have a retreat. During the two or three days we forget the surroundings we are in, the problems, and turn our. minds to the one important thing: our relationship with God. During this retreat we give all our attention to the personal problems that exist in us. The retreat begins with a conference given by a priest,/ this time Rev. Father Foly, rector at the Redemptorist Novitiate. Following the confer- ence is a reading period or a private conference with Father. At 10.30 another conference is given followed by Mass and Thanksgiving. During lunch from 12.10 to 12.30 a teacher reads to the students on some __ religious topic, After lunch there is a short time for reading alone. At 1.00 p.m. a third confer- ence is given which lasts about 40 minutes. From 1.40 to 2.30 a student may take a waik, have an interview or go to confes- sion. There is a special confer- ence for boys at 2.30 lasting half an hour. This is followed by an- other for girls ending at 3.30. Those who wish, remain for an interview with Father. During the whole retreat there is complete silence. Why? To show that our whole mind is on the retreat and to let & be a sacrifice to train om selves in self control and will power and above all, to provide an atmosphere of serious thought. Many who go into the twe days of retreat with a worried new hopes and peace of soul, Others for the first time dis cover the real person in them, and believe me, many are sus prised that a retreat is really a wonderful time. When retreat is over it is not only the girls who wish it' had lasted longer but also the Hoys, some of whom consider them- selves indiferent to such events. I wish everyone had a clhiance to make a retreat because it is such a help in a person's life. - We Specialize In Take-out and Delivery Service PHONE 728-0192 Pepi's Pizza Palace 134 SIMCOE ST.
