Miki ran his total to. 87 points with his 37th and 38th goals of the season in the week- end play. | Hull is four points behind. He jscored his 41st goal and added a pair of assists to his season's production in Chicago' week- end games. Montreal's Jean Beliveau is closest to the twosome and he's a full eight points behind Hull after picking up his 26th goal and 49th assist. Two points back is Toronto's Andy Bathgate who overhauled Chicago's Kenny Wharram with a five-point weekend. Bathgate collected a goal--his 19th--and four assists to climb into fourth spot. : Wharram was restricted to a single assist and fell to fifth with 38 goals and 32 assists. Pete Ward Aims To Aim His Throws SARASOTA, Fla. (AP)-- "Most of my ernors were throw- ing errors," said third-baseman Pete Ward of Chicago White Sox. "In fact, it was so. brutal at times I could have run over to first and tagged out a couple of guys I couldn't throw out." That's the major figw last year's rookie sensation was starting to correct when he bent over early in spring training and strained his back. He fig- ures it will cost him about two weeks in his conditioning pro- 'am. "T was working on positioning my elbow differently," said the Montreal-born infielder. "I was trying to get truer throws by ro- tating my arm differently. You know everyone said I was a ter- rible fielder, but that's not true. I made 88 errors, but about 75 per cent were on throws." Besides correcting that fault, Ward said he has one other aim retired from international cricket in 1958. He has scored more runs- 4,455-than any other West Indian in Test cricket and holds the world Test record of five consecutive centuries, this season--to be able to stee! himself every day to the fact that major league pitching is so good. Ward said the biggest sur- prise of his first season was not his ability to respond under the pressure of taking over at third base--he had been an outfielder his last two years in the Balti- more onganization -- but his home run total of 22. "When I first walked into Co- miskey Park, I took one look and said to myself: ""T'll be lucky to hit 10 hom- ers in this place.'" 'Ward, who hadn't displayed much power until his final sea- son in the minors, said an ad- justment in the way he held the bat made the difference.
