Our third sale of Dogs Attacked Sheep; Council Reimburses A Concession 2 farmer who lost 28 sheep when his flock was attacked by dogs was re- imbursed with $226 of Township Funds at the Tuesday meeting of Whitby Township Council. Council learned that on Dec. 4, two dogs owned by Fred Otter, Concession 2, were seen standing over the carcass of a sheep owned by Peter Levine. Mr. Levine said two of his animals had been slaughtered and 21 others damaged by the attacking dogs. The 21 beasts that had been nipped and bruised were taken to a Toronto packing plant and salvaged, Value of the 23 animals was set at $15 each, less the sal- vage payment of $118.88 bring- ing the Township who are re- sponsible for stock damaged by dogs running at large a bill of $226.12. Deputy Reeve John Goodwin commented that "it was lucky the two animals had been spot- ted and destroyed before any further damage was done to local flocks." Clerk Murray Robinson said that Mr. Otter had been most co-operative in the matter and had reimbursed the Township of his dogs. DOGCATCHER RESIGNS The Township accepted with regret the resignation of Ron Yarrow, Township Dog Contro) Officer. Clerk Murray Robinson: ex- plained that Mr. Yarrow's resignation, tendered in a let- ter dated Feb. 6, would be effec- tive April 30.
