Public Library received a donation of $50. for the purchase of new books recently and a copy of "The Townships of Darlington land Clarke, including Bowman- ville and Newcastle, Province of Ontario, Canada," by John Squair. ; The donation was made by '|Miss Lena R. Renwick, a for- mer resident of the Onono area and given as a memorial of her great-grandfather, Herbert Ren- wick, (1779-1869). He was a na- tive of Dumfrieshire, Scotland, and came to Canada with his family in 1833. Miss Renwick formerly lived on the farm now owned by Mr, . Harold Dean and is now a resi- dent of Redlands, California, Also included with the dona- tion was a framed photograph of her great-grandfather. The Library Board intend to use the money for the purchase of Canadiana, in which they will place an inscription that the books were a memorial to Herbert Renwick. The John Squair history of the area was a welcome gift. Miss Renwick is the first member of the new library, having some months ago sent in a membership fee and hav. ing been given a non-resident membership. Another donation to the Orono Public Library has been made by Mrs. Rhodes of Centre Street, Orono. Mrs. |Rhodes has presented the li- brary with two new books, the King James version of the Holy |Bible and 'Science and Health jwith a Key to the Scriptures" |by Mary Baker Eddy.
