CHARLES GRILLS Life-Long Residents Of District Celebrate Diamond Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grills, Columbus, were at home to their many relatives, friends and neighbors, on the occasion of their diamond wedding anni- versary last Sunday. Over three hundred guests called to con- gratulate the couple in the fternoon and evening. Mrs. Grills is the former Edna Ellins, born at Columbus, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Levi Ellins. Mr. Grills, born at Dunbarton, is the son of; the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Grills. They were married at the bride's parents' home, "Rosehill Farm', éast of Columbus, on October 21, 1903, with the Reverend Albert Wil- #0n officiating. They have lived all their mar- tied life in the Columbus district, where Mr. Grills operated a feed mil' for eleven years, They then farmed for thirty-five years and retired to the village of Columbus fourtcen years ago. They are both members of Columbus United Church. They have six children, all married, Howard and Horace Grills of Brooklin, Stanley » Port Perry, Florence . Idris Stacey) Oshawa, (Mrs, Arthur Hepburn) Columbus, and Rosina (Mrs.| Roy Jackson) Lindsay. They have thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs, Grills received her Quests wearing a blue silk dress =e corsage of white chrysan- ums. Sons and daughters helped re- ceive the guests and grandsons were in charge of.the guest book while the granddaughters assist- ed in serving. The tea table was laid with a white cutwork cloth and center- ed with a three tier wedding cake, flanked by crystal can- delabra with pale biue tapers and white baby chrysanthe- mums. Pouring tea in the afternoon were Mrs. Thomas Scott, Miss E. Lawrence, Mrs. J. Miller, and Mrs. Thomas Flett.
