Burden Is Eased By Faith In God By R. BARCLAY WARREN Behind the smiling face, there is often a very heavy heart. Some delay too long im sharing their load with their pastor, doc- tor or friend. Paul is not contradicting him- self when he writes the follow- ing in Galatians 6:2 and 6:5: "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." And, 'For every man shall bear his own burden." The word used by Paul in the latter verse is the word for "burden", applied to the pack carried by a porter or a soldier on the march. When Jesus Christ offered rest to the heavy laden, He con- cluded with the words, "My bur- den is light." Mt. 11:30. Each of us has his pack to bear. But the word in the first verse denotes a weight, pressure; hence grief, misery. We must help one another with these. I can usually tell when people -- especially those I know -- are weighted down with pressure. But my guess as to the cause of the pressure may be far afield. Actually it is a relief to share in this burden. Particularly is this so when, as with an ac- quaintance, we have already sensed that the individual was under pressure, The laugh was Irored and the eye had lost its glow. This had concerned us but we could not force anyone to share his burden. Now we can counsel and comfort and pray and, best of all ,point the burdened to what God. says about the problem in His Word, the Bible. Whether it is alone or in che company of friends, we must a! endeavor to cast all our care upon the Lord, for He careth for us, (I Pet. 5:7). Life's burdens in this vale of tears will take the song from our heart if we do not find refuge in Jesus Christ our Savior.
