The members of the 8th Osh- awa Sea Scout Mothers Auxil- iary opened the fall season with a supper meeting held at Christ Memorial Church, The social committee, consisting of Mrs. Mathew Sutton, Mrs. Giles Goulding and Mrs. Keith Burns planned the supper, which was well attended, THe usyal business meeting took place after the supper, with Mrs. David St. Andrews, president, presiding. The con- veners for the coming Scout Mothers bazaar which is to be held in Christ Memorial Church on November 13, were intro- duced. The ideas, help and per- formance of this. bazaar were d and members were asked to assist as much as pos- sible in making this a rea, fi- nancial event. Mrs. St. An- drews told of the dinner held' at Samac by the Rotary Club for Crippled Children, and said that help had been supplied as asked for, from the 8th Auxiliary. New officers will be installed at the October meeting, and a nominating committee was named; consisting of Mrs, Roy Day, Mrs. Robert Ross and Mrs, L, Morrison, Mrs. N. Loughland read @ most interesting item from the Scout Magazine, called "By the Left Hand', Mrs. St. Andrews thanked KING STREET UCW Unit ( 2 King Street United Church UCW, Unit 7, held its Septem- ber meeting recently, with Mrs. Arthur Brown presiding. The study book chapter on "Okinawa" was given in a com- plete and interesting way by Mrs. Douglas Redpath, The members were reminded of several future dates, especially the annual church service at which the Reverend Floyd Honey will be the speaker, also the UCW meeting on October 10, with Dr. Claude H. Vipond as speaker. Mrs. Lawrence Allen, assist- ed by Mrs. Almond Britnell led the worship service, the theme being "Beginning Again"'. E. A. LOVELL H AND 8 Many parents and grand- parents attended. "Curriculum Night" held by the E. A. Lovell Home and School Association. This evening was planned by the teaching staff, A brief business meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Richard Lack. The room Broadbent welcomed all those in attendance and introduced the new members of the teaching staff. These were Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Donna McLean, Miss Edith Moore, Mrs, Kathryn Sta- siuk, Mr. Robert Brown, Mr. Arthur Henwood and Mr. Doug- las Woodward. Miss Joan Peel, another new member, was un- able to be present. Following an explanation of the purpose of the program, Broadbent gave directions to the different classrooms. Here the teachers outlined the courses of studies prescribed for their grades for this year. Parents were given an opportunity to discuss the course and ask ques- tions regarding it. It was ar- ranged that each parent could visit two classrooms during the evening if he so desired. All the parents seemed greatly in- terested, and appreciative of the chance to become informed regarding their children's edu- cational program in this way.
