20 THE OSHAWA TIMES, Friday, June 7, 1963 Slaughter Cattle Trade Is TORONTO (CP) -- Trading was active and prices were steady on all classes and grades of slaughter cattle, with the ex- ception of heavy fat steers which sold under pressure at prices barely steady to lower at the Ontario public stockyards this week. Cow prices were fully steady to last week's advance and bull prices edged higher. Hog prices were higher. Veal calf and sheep and lamb prices were generally unchanged. 'Cattle receipts were esti- mated at about 8,800 head, about 1,000 head fewer than last week and about 800 head more than the same week in 1962. Western cattle receipts num- bered 711, an increase over last week of 274 head. Western stock Industrials Lead Decline On Market TORONTO (CP)--Industrials ted a decline in all sections of tiie stock market during light turnover Thursday. Weakness showed in all main list groups with Interprovincial Pipe Line dropping a point to 86 to pace the decline. Also following the trend were Industrial Acceptance, off % and Price Brothers, Texaco Canada, Canadian Tire A and Dominion Bridge, all down 1%. Losses in a % to % range went to Bell Telephone, Loblaw B and Walker-Gooderham. On the upside, Trans-Canada Pipe Line rose %, National Trust and Huron and Erie Mort- gage each climbed 44 and BA oil rose %. On index, industrials dipped| 1.70 to 647.88, golds slipped .36 to 86.27, base metals fell .89 to 214.47 and western oils eased 10 to 123.20 Active calf receipts were 53 head as compared to 99 last week. Three loads of slaughter cattle were shipped east. One hundred and eighteen veal calves were sold for slaughter in the United States. Slaughter cattle: Choice steers closed at 24-24.50 with fancy feedlot steers 25-25.50; good 23-24; medium 21-23; com- mon 16-20.50; good heifers 21:50- 22.50 with choice 22.50-23.50; medium 19.50-21.50; common 16. 19; choice fed yearlings 23-25 with odd top to 26; good 21-23; good cows 18-19 with sales on light heifery cows to 20; me- dium 16.50-17.50; canners and cutters 12-16; good heavy bo. logna bulls 19-20 with sales to 20.50; common and mediums 15. 19. Replacement cattle: Good stockers 24-27 with sales to 27.50; common and medium stockers and stock calves 20-23. Calves: Choice vealers 30-33 with odd tops to 34; good 26.50. 29; medium 23-26; common 20- 22; boners 16-19.
