Youngsters Love Typing For the past seven years, The Oshawa Business College has offered special typing class- es to young people from Grades 6, 7 and 8 and high school stu- dents. These classes operate on Saturday morning and have proven to be extremely popular especially with youngsters from Grades 6, 7 and 8. Since last September a total © enrolment of 37 young people have enrolled and been in at- # tendance every Saturday morn- ing. Many of these have de- i veloped speeds as high as 30 words a minute with a surpris- ing degree of accuracy, One of the most interesting aspects of this class of students is their ability to concentrate and thus enthusiasm for typewriting. Parents and teachers have made very favorable comments with regard to the effect the ability to type has had on the students. Reading and spelling ability have improved a greater degree of interest in school work has been evident; many have obtained better grades and perhaps more important, these youngsters take more pride in doing neater and better work. The group shown in the ac- companying picture will be fin- ishing shortly for the summer. However, a new group will be- gin and carry on during the summer, attending two hours per day during July and August at which time this course will finish and another new group will begin.
