Free Skating Draws To Close At Arena Free skating for the 1962-63 season came to a close, Wed- nesday afternoon, for more than 2,200 Whitby Public School pupils. The pupils were given a free skating period once a week from 4 to 5 p.m., at Whitby Arena, the season starting Dec. 3, 1962, They were permitted to leave the school early enough to change and be on the ice before the four o'clock starting me, These skating periods were alternately supervised by the school teachers and this year marked the fourth accident-free year. A capacity audience filled the recreation hall to hear the con- cert. Other entertainment was provided by the Connolly School of Dancing senior majorettes. The girls gave a demonstra- tion of. marching and baton twirling. Also featured during the eve- ning were solos by saxophone and accordion players.
