Baxter gave David Bruder, 8 Fleet street, no time to pay two $15 fines and sent him to jail for 10 days instead. Bruder was convicted of be- ing intoxicated in a public place, and having liquor in a place other than his residence after pleading guilty to both charges. His friend, John McDow, 23, Newcastle, was fined $10 and costs or five days after plead- ing guilty to being intoxicated and was given a week to pay.
