The two goals gave Moore 250 for his NHL career and 20 for this season, He joins teammates Bernie Geoffrion (23), Gilles Tremblay (23) and Henri Ri- chard (22) in the 20-goal bra- cket. Meanwhile Provost moved up to 10 and Rousseau to 17. BASKETBALL SCORES BY THE CANADIAN PRESS NATIONAL ASSOCIATION . Boston 115, Detroit 104 New York 116, Syracuse 129, SPORTS MENU By Geo. H. Campbell SPORTS EDITOR 'Everything From Soup To Nuts' THE CANADIAN BRIER curling championship is shaping up to be a sudden-death game, that is actually on the round- - robin schedule, between Ernie Richardson of Saskatchewan and Jim Shields of Calgary, Alberta. Yesterday morning, Northern Ontario pushed the Richardsons while Ontario had to score an extra-end shot to beat out Manitoba, In the next round, Ontario nosed out Newfoundland 10-9 when the Newfie skip missed with his last rock, on the final end, These two rinks have each lost only one game and while British Colum- bia, with two defeats, is still very much in the running, vet- eran observers insist that the Canadian title will be decided this morning. Ontario's Bob Mann scored their sixth win in the 9th round last night, when they defeated New Bruns- wick, 9-5. Manitoba finally ended their seven-game slump, they defeated Quebec, 15-5, in last night's 9th round, Ontario and Northern Ontario are now tied for third place and On- tario has a bye today. Barring an upset this morning or afternoon, the Alberta-Sask. game will decide the title and @ special playoff is not anticipated. 7 x x x x BERNIE GEOFFRION drew a five-game suspension for his temper act in Detroit the other night, when he tossed his stick @t.the referee, and then threw his gloves, scoring two hits out of three tries. NHL President Clarence Campbell was in the stands and he meted out a stern sentence. They have it figured that this suspension, with subsequent loss of salary, chance for a bonus, etc., will cost Geoffrion about $2,000 -- plus a 1/14th cut in his pension, What with injuries early in the season and now this suspension, Boom Boom has missed quite a few games with Montreal this season and his scoring total is the lowest in his last six terms. This kind of treatment should certainly cool out other NHL players who might get the urge to go berserk some night. Canadiens will miss Geoffrion and his season's record, as well as his pay-book, will suffer. If Clarence Campbell had moved as quickly and sternly against "Toe" Blake -- then Eddie Powers would still be an NHL referee. STILL ALIVE! Montreal Canadiens thumped Boston Bruins, 8-0, last night just to serve notice that with, or with- out Geoffrion and a few other stars sidelined with injuries, they have every intention of staying in the running for the third slot -- and maybe even second spot, HOCKEY SCORES, STANDINGS By THE CANADIAN PRESS Nova Scotia Senior c National League (Moncton leads best-of-seven) nid.
