Bill Little P enerals Tie With D Oshawa Generals. scored four times in the third period of a Metro Junior "A" hockey game last night to tie Whitby Dunlops 44 in front of a packed house ' at Whitby Community Arena. Generals spotted Whitby four goals before Bill Little scored three times to write one of the greatest paragraphs in Junior hockey's Cinderella book. Ron Buchanan sandwiched a goal be- tween Little's first and second marker, - Dunnies built their four-goal lead on a pair of goals in each of the first two periods. Bill Smith led Whitby marksmen with goals in the first and sec- ond frame. Larry Davenport and Wayne Weller shared the other two. The tie kept Oshawa in fifth spot of the league standings, one point above Whitby. Dun- nies are winless in nine games of regular season play. They have three ties. Oshawa has one win and two ties. Little scored his first goal at 4.27 of the final period when he rammed the puck behind Whit- by goaltender, Ray Reeson, just after Reeson had kicked out a shot from Mike Dubeau. Buchanan put the Generals within striking distance when he scored less than two minutes later from a short distance. Little scored his second goal at 12.53 to set the stage for one of the most dramatic finishes in annals of junior hockey. Little tied the score at 15.55 of the period while Oshawa's defensive standout, Bobby Orr, was sitting out a two-minute tripping penalty. Dunlop coach, Bobby Atters- ley, said, "Third period penal- ties killed us. I wouldn't say we blew the game, though. Osh- awa worked hard to get the tie." Oshawa's coach, Doug Wii- liams, had this to say: "We played poorly in the first period. The second period was not much EN ER aces ally To | unnies BASKETBALL In ast Saturday morning's' basketball action at Simcoe Hall Settlement House there were another five (three Biddy League and two Minor League) games played.
