Congregational Dinner Held At Kedron KEDRON -- The Kedron Con- gregational Dinner, held in the |lower hall was well attended, and the discussion following the |dinner was spirited as measures for coping with the rapidly growing church population were discussed. A short film 'entitled 'Reason for Being' was shown by Mr. Love, assist- ed by Mr. Brian Spencer and Mr. Ron Werry. The Program Chairman, Mr. Harold Werry, reported on the many improvements to the church building suggested by the various groups of the church. These included such things as a humidifier, new tile for the kitchen floor, additional hymn books, a program of mailing the jchurch calendar and other liter- lature to shut- -ins, a safe for the \preservation of hare records, additional missionary education, jand accommodation in the Com- munity Hall for youth groups. The Resources Chairman, Mr, John K. Glover, presented the proposed budget for the new year, which was adopted. To meet the budget, a total of $6,040 is required, of which $1,225 is allocated to the M and M Fund. Most of the discussion re. volved around measures for ex- panding the church facilities, {Only ten years ago, 25 families completed building the present jchurch, which would meet their jforeseeable needs for many jyears to come. But the rapid /suburban development in the jarea, and the forming of new |groups to meet the needs of the children, already taxes all avail- able space. The various pro- posals will be discussed with the people of the church on Visita- {tion Sunday, Nov. 18. Cancer Society Names Officers By MRS. M. ANNIS BROUGHAM The annual meeting of the Ajax - Pickering Branch of the Canadian Cancer, Society was held recently. Mrs. Ray Rogers, past presi- dent, gave a report on the work done by members in 1962, includ- ing driving patients to Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto to receive treatment; the suc- cess of the fund raising cam- paign; woork done by the wom- en's Service Committee; and films and pamphlets circulated throughtout the township for jeducation purposes.
