Remembrance Association Links War-Widows, Bereaved Mothers The Remembrance Associa- tion, Silver Cross Women of Canada consists of many chap- ters across Canada comprised of mothers and wives of the men who did not return from World Wars One and Two. The Oshawa District Chapter hai a very busy year. We gave dona- tions to very worthy organiza- tions such as Muscular Dystro- Cedardale UCW Combines Jr. WA Meditation Group Our organization has been in existence for over twenty years. This group was formerly known as Junior Women's Association. We also had.a Mediation Group, in which the older members took an active part, especially in the missionary work for over- seas. This year our two groups have united into one, as United Church Women. We meet on the second Wednesday afternoon of each month at 2 p.m. including a Bible study at each meeting. Our activities included cater- ing for a turkey supper. We took charge of the church service on Mother's Day and Mother's phy, Retarded _ Children, Women's Welfare League, Sim- coe Hall, also a veteran's widow who was left with eight children. We sent parcels to our men in Sunnybrook Hospital, also aged in Fairview Lodge, Whit- by every month; also two mem- bers give time to Hillsdale Manor, -Oshawa, when called upon to do so. Donations were made to Oshawa. and Whitby Poppy Fund; also our own members, sick and shut in and in hospital are looked after. We hold our meetings in Simcoe Hall, Oshawa. Although we are a very small chapter we do Choir. We give voluntary serv- ice at Hillsdale Manor every seven weeks. Twice a year we send bundles of clothing to help overseas relief. We also have a bazaar every fall. A June Picnic and Christmas party are also included in our activities. Our slate of officers: presi- dent, Mrs. Wm. Henning; vice- president, Mrs. A. Singer; re- cording secetary, Mrs. J. Nor- ton; treasurer, Mrs. R. Worsley; corresponding secre- tary, Mrs. N. Hall; social con- vener, Mrs, G. Thomson; press reporter, Mrs. E. Hoy; program, Mrs. A. Barisson. keep quite active. Hold a fall bazaar and tag day day which are very successful. We would welcome any fre- cipient of the Silver Cross to our chapter in Oshawa.
