KEN GAMSBY ORONO -- The Orono Cham- ber of Commerce has taken exception to the subsidizing of an ambulance service to be centred in the Town of Bow- manville, by the Township of Clarke. The president, H. Partner, brought the matter before the Chamber for discussion. Ac- tion to participate in the four- centre ambulance service was immediately denounced by a ! and a motion to send a letter to the Township of Clarke oppos- ing the move was passed. R. Forrester and L. Lowery stated that they had met with the Township of Clarke when the finance committee outlined the circumstances under which Council felt they should join the service being set-up in the Town of Bowmanville, It was also pointed out to the Police Trustees that Council had met on two occasions with Mr. Barlow of Orono when ambulance service was discuss- a. He felt that as this was a good service that the Municipality should not be as- sisting with another outside~ of the community. $ H.
