McINTYRE HOOD Special to The Oshawa Times LONDON -- The national ex- ecutive of Frank Cousins Trans- port and General Workers Union has decided unanimously to ask for legislation to outlaw all color discrimination. This decision was taken after a full- scale debate, in which Mr. Cousins played - leading part. But at the very moment when the union leaders were making this decision in favor of out- laéwing color discrimination in employment, a, group of work- ers at the Union Cartage Com- panys works at Kennington were threatening to strike be- cause the company had employ- ed a colored man. The colored worker was motor fitter Cecil Mills. When he turned up for the first day of his new $45-a-week job, he was confronted by the other employees. Either Mills went or they would have been on strike. "Mills said he had half: ex- pected it. He had the same kind of thing happen to him in the army.
