THE OSHAWA TIMES, Tuesdoy, July 31, 1962 9 PORT PERRY MUNICIPAL OFFICES Greatest Seven years ago, Scott Rutherford, a cost accountant by profession and a mariner by hobby, leased a_ service station on Number 12 Highway, north of Brooklin, and put his outboard runabout boats (none ef them fancy) on display. He called his new business Marine Storage and Supply. Now a limited company, Marine Storage and Supply Limited boasts the largest dis- play of boats in Ontario. And Mr. Rutherford is visited fre- quently by boaters interested in doing business from all parts of the province. It is not uncommon to see anywhere from 45 to 125 boats, both new and used, ranging in size from small car top fishing craft. to cabin cruisers within the fenced-in Marine Storage and Supply yard. WIDE RANGE Marine Storage and Supply carries a complete line of Evin- rude outboard motors and has a staff of five factory - trained outboard motor mechanics and boat riggers. Everything needed by the water sportsman can be found on the shelves at Marine Sup- ply and Storage. Mr. Rutherford has become affiliated with Lake Scugog Marine which will have slips for 200 boats, most of which will be cruisers, two miles north of Port Perry, on Lake Scugog. Lake Scugog Marine is now in the process of developing 117 acres fronting on the lake for its cruiser mooring area. At least twice a year, Mr. Welcome to Port Perry For Better Impressions... No matter what your printing needs you'll find a low cost answer at our shop, Top-notch material and workmanship guaran- tee you satisfaction, Port Perry Star Co. LTD. Rutherford or a member of his staff may be seen at Port Perry demonstrating new model boats for prospective buyers and for the entertain- ment of vacationers around the Port Perry area. NEW CONCEPT He says fibre glass boats are now the biggest sellers be- cause of their durability and the little maintenance they require. Another model -- Mr. Rutherford states will be a big seller (and already some of these may be seen at Lake Scugog) is the OMC -- a new concept of boating safety de- veloped by Outboard Marine at its new Trenton works. OMC is a tri-hull craft power- ed by an inboard engine with an outboard drive, Mr. Ruther- ford said. BITTEN BY SHARK SAVANNAH, Ga.
