Darlington Watershed Studied TORONTO -- The Ontario De- partment of Lands and Forests began their conservation sur- vey recently of the Central Lake Ontario watershed for 1962. This survey was begun in the summer of 1959, continued at intervals during the sume mer of 1961, and will be con- tinued further this summer. A field party, consisting of a graduate and a student from an Ontario University, will work under the direction of permanent officers on the Con- servation Authorities Branch. The Central Lake Ontario Con- servation Authority has request- ed the Conservation Authorities Branch to determine the flood plain lands of Darlington Town- ship. The outlining of these lands will aid in restricting the development of these flooté vul- nerable lands. From measurements made during the survey and calcula- tions obtained from these meas- urements, the flood plain may be determined. The field men of the survey party will be travelling in a de- partment vehicle to many roads of the Authority, and will also be found on foot in the water- shed's woodlots, fields and streams.
