12 THE OSHAWA TIMES, Pridey, April 6, 1962 Stirling Moss And Innes Ireland Will Be At Mosport, June 9 TORONTO -- Stirling Moss, racing's uncrowned king, and Innes Ireland, winner of the 1961 U. S. Grand Prix, have entered the 1962 "Players 200" at Mosport, June 9th. The two top international drivers are the first of a num- er of name drivers who will face the starter's flag in Can- ada's premier sports car race, sponsored by Imperial Tobacco Company. Moss, winner of the first "Player's 200" last June, 1s ex- pected to drive a new rear- engined Ferrari while Ireland will be behind the wheel of a Lotus 19, the car Moss won in last year. The race, organized by the Canadian Racing Drivers As- sociation, will again be in two heats of 100 miles each. Last year's event drew a_ record sports car crowd of 40,000 in- cluding 32,150 paid The race carries a total prize pool of $10,000 with $3,000 going # to the winner. In addition, the winning driver will receive the Player's Cup. Moss finished third in the the world championship last year--a title he has never won despite the fact that fellow drivers recognize him as the best driver. While he failed again to win the title, the ; British ace again proved his superiority by winning 21 of the 65 races he entered. His closest rival only won seven races Ireland, a Scotsman living in, England, was the top driver for} the Lotus factory last year. In addition to the U. S.
