C, Douglas said Monday at a press conference. Mr, Douglas, here for a brief conference with the eight CCF- NDP members of Parliament and to film a TV broadcast, dis- cussed his recent ramblings across Canada recruiting sup- port for the new party. But he steered clear of forecasting how the party will fare in the next general election. The party, he said, will con- test practically every constitu- ency and "we'll go out to get the largest group in the house," he told reporters who asked whteher he'd be satisfied with holding the balance of power should neither Liberals nor Con- servatives win a clear majority. He had found things better than he expected in his visits to every province since his election as leader at the found- ing convention of the party last August. But the political picture was a patchwork such as he had never seen before in Canada. No part of the country seemed to be moving in any particular direction politically.
