Tied with Kozlik with two vic- tories each are Dr. Bob Mar- shall and Ed Rhodes, both of Toronto. Kozlik's rink defeated Al Ko- telko of Toronto in the new "8 d weekend of ac- with a nice 1285 team total to 1151 for O'Connor and it was Ozzie Keeler who set the pace with a 317 game, followed by Bob Gallagher 295 and John Hrico 271, "Dutch'"' Lugtenburg turned in a whopping relief job in this game. Acadian also took the next game, which was a nightmare for both clubs who were plagued with head pin picks. The scores were away below par with Acadian having 1020 against 922 for O'Connor. The third game was really a battle and Acadians came up with a brilliant finish to take the decision with 1366 to 1316 for the opposition. Ozzie Keeler again proved his worth with another big 316 score and Bob Gallagher also helped consider- ably with a 290. Dick Adams with 262, Lloyd Sabins 258 and Hank Sarnovsky's help in relief, proved the deciding factor. O'CONNOR CLICKS After losing the first three games, the O'Connor club finally started to click and took the fourth game with a dandy 1325 score against the Acadian total of 1112. The fifth game again saw O'Comnor keep up the torrid pace and rack up 1319 while the Acadian boys ran into the rough stuff and had to settle for a 1060 total. The Oshawa squad appeared to be headed for a big one in the last game unti! the last half of the game, forced to sweat it out all the way. The team totals for the series were O'Connor Bowl 6033 and Acadians 5843 and the Toronto Club deserved to win the last two games when they staged such a terrific comeback. KEELER BOWLS WELL Ozzie Keeler justified his in- clusion in the line-up with a five game total of 1287 which in- cluded 317, 217, 316, 229 and 208. Lioyd Sabins had 1059 for 46 frames, Bob Gallagher 1057 for 44, Dick Adams 1004 for 45, John Hrico 675 for #1, Hank Sarnovsky 477 for 21 and "Dutch" Lugtenburg 284 for 13. Bill Neal was the spark plug for O'Connor when he got his club rolling in the last three games with 279, 287 and 333 and Joe D'Orazio was equally effec- tive in these games with 277, 265 and 291. Sunday Cannon scored five touchdowns, rushed for 216 yards to break the American Football League one-game rec- ord and caught passes for 114 yards as the Oilers beat New York Titans 48-21. Houston thus clinched. no worse than a tie for the East- ern Division title and became prohibitive favorites to take it all since now only lowly Oak- land Raiders remain to be played. That would set up a repeat of last yeur's championship game in which Houston licked Los Angeles Chargers, now of San Diego. San Diego, which al- ready has sewn up the Western Division championship, beat Buffalo Bills 28-10 while Dallas bashed Denver Broncos 49-21 in other Sunday AFL games. Boston Patriots, who wounded Oaklafid 35-21 Saturday night, remained a game back of Hous- ton in the Eastern Division race} and could tie for the champion-| ship should the Oilers falter| next Sunday at Oakland while they nipped San Diego at San Diego. It was something of a novelty to see somebody take the Play} away from the Houston quarter- tlon. Rhodes' rink from Toronto Royal Canadian came from be- hind a 6-1 lead held by Dr. John Brock of Oshawa after five ends and won 12-10. It was the second straight loss for Brock. Dr. Marshall's rink scored three in each of the sixth and eighth ends on the way to a 12-9 victory over Belleville's Mac White, a provincial finalist last year. Conerly Hero In Giants Win NEW YORK (AP)--Selection of the opponent for Green Bay Packers in the National Foot- ball League's title contest Dec. 31 has narrowed to two teams and two games. The teams are New York Gi- ants and Philadelphia Eagles and the pressure is strictly on the Eagles. They must win. And even that won't do them any good if the Giants win or tie. The games are next Sunday's Giants -Cleveland Browns en- counter in New York's Yankee Stadium and the Eagles - Lions tussle in Detroit's Tiger Stad- jum in the season windups. A Giants' defeat and an Eagles victory would necessitate a playoff in New York Dec. 24. Sunday the Giants edged the Eagles 28-24 in a rip-snorter at Philadelphia to go out in front by one game. The Browns dropped out of the title chase when they were upset by Chi- eago Bears 17-14. It didn't mean anything for Green Bay but the Packers were surprised 22-21 by San Francisco '49ers. In other games Sunday, Pitts- burgh Steelers defeated Wash- ington 30-14 to run the Red- skins' non-winning streak to 23 games over two seasons (they tied three); St. Louis Cardinals wallooped Dallas Cowboys 31-13 and Detroit got past Minnesota RETAIN TITLE TORONTO (CP) -- University of Toronto Blues retained the Senior Intercollegiate water polo championship Saturday by de- feating McGil! Charlie Conerly was the key in the Giants' squeaker over the Eagles. The 40-year-old quar- terback, a bench warmer most of the season, replaced Y. A. He threw three touchdown passes, one 35 yards to Joe Wal- ton and two of 26 and 11 yards to Del Shofner. Before he left 367 yards in the air for an NFL single - season record of 3,320 yards in passing. Johnny Uni- tas held the mark of 3,099 yards, made last year in 13 games.
