Terry Downes Has OK For Warmup Go LONDON (AP). -- Terry Downes, part holder of the world middleweight boxing ti- tle, was given permission Wed- nesday to have a warmup fight before defending his crown against Paul Pender in Boston. The 25-year-old Londoner got the go-ahead from the British Boxing Board of control. He has been out of action with a thumb injury since he took the title from Pender in London last July. Last week the Massachusetts officials ruled that Downes must not fight until he has fulfilled his return-clause contract with Pender. Downes is scheduled to meet Pender, of Brookline, Mass., in Boston Jan, 20.
