The first regular meeting . was held in King Street United Church, Oshawa, Novem- or 21, 1946, with 100 in attend- ance. Mrs. Richard Maddocks, then president of Dominion Council Woman's Association accepted the newly-formed Pres- bytery Woman's Association. These first officers were: Presi- Holy Trinity WA Active 30 Years The Women's Auxiliary of Holy Trinity Church (Anglican), Oshawa has been active. since this parish began thirty years ago. The meeting time has been changed and we now. meet the first and third Wednesday eve- ning of every month. While the membership is emall our meetings are friendly and happy and we feel we are progressing. We have fulfilled our missionary commitments and we have helped our own church, both financially and buying equipment.. We assist with the Church School picnic and Christmas party and _ the Communion breakfast. To finance these projects we have an annual bazaar, teas, catering and by selling Church calendars. The aim and object of the Presbytery Woman's Association is to deepen the spiritual life of the women of the Church while endeavoring to organize an Associatio:r. in each congre- gation within the bounds of Pres- bytery; to meet the needs. of the Woman's Association in the Presbytery and promote the pro- gram of the Church at large; to co-operate with other Presby- tery WA's within the Conference and carry out recommendations from Conference WA and Domin- ion Council WA. ' Today our Oshawa Presbytery WA enjoys the membership and co-opera- tion of 57 locals and our total membership is 2795. The finest in inspiration, cour- age and help has been found in our two regular meetings held each year on the 4th Thursday of April and October. We have had the priviledge of hearing many fine sneakers on these oc- casions. Also our own execu- tive and committee chairmen have given excellent leadership, and provided a media fof ex- changing opinions and ideas through discussicn groups. Among our Presbytery WA special projects have been the sponsoring of a Temperance Es¢ sa: Contest; donations to furn- ish two rooms at Albert College. the restoration of the John Knox Chapel in Geneva: donations to Camp Pretoria, Camp Quin-Mo- Lac and Yive Oaks Christian Training Centre; and the setting up of a Bursary Fund to pro- vide for a student, needing fi-! nancial assistance, attending the United Church Training School in Toronto. Each of the 57 locals fulfil responsibilities and undertake many projects so that Woman's Associations: play a large part in Church life.
