Struck Father, Fined $50, Costs An Uxbridge Township resi- dent, convicted of striking his father in a dispute over the ownership of a radio, was Tues- day fined $56 and costs for assault. Harold Coppins, 56, pleaded guilty to the charge before Magistrate R. B. Dniep- er in Whitby police court. The accused's father, Roy Coppins, 72, tuld the court that his son, who lives in the same house, came home on the night of Nov. 3 and had been drink- ing. He said that he and the accused started arguing about who owned the radio, which, he added, was owned by the accused's mciher. During the argument, he said, his son struck him on the chest and on the side of the head. He seid that he was knocked backwards by the blows but was not hurt. The elder Coppins said he tried to get out of the house but his son pursued him and was intercepted by a neighbor to end the affair. Crown Attorney Bruce Affleck said that the accused was the worse for liquor and the inci- dent was more of a family squabble.
