Marrocco, DD, Auxiliary Bishop of Toronto, presented altar boy award certificates to 160 altar boys from four parishes in the Whitby area. The awards were made at St. John the Evangelist Church, in Whitby, on behalf of the Serra Club, of Toronto, an international or- ganization dedicated to the purpose of increasing voca- tions to the priesthood. Student Activity cards are the lowdown on what was dis- cussed. Discussion on school Christ- mas cards was held. It was planned to have the school em- blem printed on: the front of the cards. The cards cost two dollars each but are worth much more in the value that an Activity card hold- er gets out of an Activity card. Advantages that a student re- ceives from an activity card are many. He has reduced ad- mission to school dances. He gets an identification for shows to allow students to get in on re- duced student admission. The money obtained from the sale of the Activity cards pro- vides transportation on buses for school teams when they go away to play games at other schools. Student Council has decided that High School and OCVI in Osh- awa to obtain information about getting the cards printed. Students again want to start the school newspaper called the 'School Spirit Splash." Council decided that this paper be or- ganized into a club and run as an extra-curricular activity. A few articles, such as the con- troversial column, "Teacher's Pet," were argued over be- cause some felt that it was not necessary. Another side of the argument was that students should have a chance to express their views.
