Perfect example of the "suit being all" this fall is this en- semble, with three - quarter length, tie-collared sleeveless Shopping for a fall and win- ter coat promises to be an es pecially rewarding experience this season, so much so that even women whose prelimin- ary wardrobe plans haven't in- cluded a new coat are likely to exercise their feminine mind- changing privileges, after the first glimpse of the real excite: ment that is offered in aut- umn coat styles, fabrics and colors. Everything is fashionable -- Simplicity In Bridal Clothes Bridal march for fall is to- ward a continued simplicity of line, in step with rich fabrics. Brides will be coming down the aisle in courtly, elegant gowns fashioned of silk or rayon peau de soie, a variety of silks and satins, brocade or taffeta. Though outlines are simple, skirts are often intricately cut and draped. Flat fronts sweep out for side width, and back interest is provided by poufs, bows, rosettes, bustles, stream- ers and fabric flowers. There are dome and bell skirts, sheath and princess lines. Victorian look is impor- tant -- high necklines and long, buttoned sleeves. High neckline and sleeves long, slim and pointed appear in still other styles, but bateau or scoop necklines lead. Shoulder trains, usually de- cape, worn over a collarless matching suit with yoke back. Fabric is stone beige, soft- textured English furrow tweed. 'Elegance And Luxury' Fall Message In Furs "Handled like fabric" is the fashion message for fur this fall. It's stated in terms of all the current style trends -- plus, of course, the elegance and luxury of fur. Timely, important silhouettes translated into fur include fit and flare. Fit, as in fabric fa- shions, is demi or semi, taking account of feminine curves with fluid ease. Flare develops from the shoulders, from a na- tural or lowered waistline, while trumpet flares represent the 61 approach to the Twenties influ- ence. Cone silhouettes, moder- ated pyramids and A-lines have interest. Real capes, full length and shorter, and full-sweeping coats with the cape look constitute another newsworthy group. Cape-back coats, with straightifavorite theme of many design- tachable, look new in combina- tns of two fabrics -- velvet border on silk, for example. Subtlety is exercised in trim- mings. Self fabric trims are frequent, in the form of leaves, flowers or cording. Exciting Styles In Coats To Make Shopping Delight the flare, the A line, the pyra- mid, the cone, the curve-con- scious coat (including the prin- cess), the cape and all its rela- tions, and, between the wide sweep of the" flare and the curve, a handsome selection of slimline styles. Wha'ever the sihouette, tempting iabrics, coi ors and details result in new- this-fall distinction. Flares are most often modi- fied, as fall styles trend toward more awareness of fit, but capes swish out dramatically. There's the real cape, with lit- tle sleeves set in discreetly. Other coats are almost-capes, or have cape backs with straight or shaped fronts. Wide capelet collars carry out the theme, although fabric col- lars generally are on the mod- est side -- rings, bands or nar- row with trim lapels. Fur collars take a bolder ap- proach, trending to the large and luxurious. Fur linings, re- versible or not, fur cuffs and hem bandings add to the im- portant look of coats. Fabrics are as varied and interesting as silhouettes Spongy, lacy wools and blends; furry wool and mohairs; lush and plush fabrics, synthetic piles and fake furs; rich mel- tons; ribbed and corded fabrics such as ottoman; tweeds; wor- steds -- all are represented.
