18 THE OSHAWA TIMES, Mondey, July 31, 1967 "BOATING AND F ISHING POPULAR SUMMER PASTIMES John Orde Has Two Big Hobbies John Orde, of Port Perry, has two hobbies, both of which he works at to earn his living. He is a man who loves the water | and a man who loves music. Mr. Orde owns the largest marine supply, storage rental service on Lake Scugog. He has an orchestra which is well known in Toronto where his group plays at numerous dances. Eight years ago, the 1960 pres- ident of the Port Perry Cham- ber of Commerce, bought a shack beside Port Perry Harbor and moored his single row boat beside it. Now his business is the largest of its type on Lake Scugog. As his business con- tinues {0 grow -- and it is, the popularity of Port Perry Harbor | continues to grow. HAS FACILITIES Orde marine provides a com- plete service for boaters, with its rental boats, two gas pumps, large and efficient repair serv- ice and staff, sheds with a three- ion boat hoist and a full line of marine supplies, including life jackets, water skis, which inci- dentally are continually gaining popularity in the Port Perry area, lights and other boat fix- fures. Although Mr. Orde has a staff of competent boat mechanics, it is not uncommon to see him crouched beside any type of a small run-about to a large fam- ily cruiser rendering assistance fo a distraught beoatsman. No job is too big or too small for Mr. Orde or his staff. In addition ot the equipment Mr. Orde maintains, he has parking facilities for 125 boat irailers surrounding his estab- lishment. During an average ADMIT STARTING FIRE WILCOX, Sask. (CP) -- Two | boys, aged six and 10, have ad- mitted they started a fire be- tween the Patterson Grain Ele- vator and its east annex here Monday. A veteran boater, he rents boats, motors and mooring space on his extensive docks. The growth of Orde's Marine Storage and Supply has neces sarily been linked with the growth of Port Perry. Good ser- vice and equipment have helped bring the boating fraternity to Orde's dock in droves and the boaters bring prosperity to the village. Mr. Orde is a member of the Chamber of Commerce lake- front development committee and the reason for his member- ship on that committee should be obvious.
