The president opened the meeting with a poem, Do it Now. After the singing of a hymn the business was dealt with, during which the School for Leaders in Whitby was stressed. A letter of apprecia- tion from Overseas Relief was read and the committee allotted a sum of money for prizes for picnic. Roll call was answered by My Favorite Flower. Meeting closed with the bene- diction after which lunch was served by the group and a so- cial time spent. A good number of friends gathered in the Recreation Cen- tre Friday night for a shower in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Bailey who were married re- cently in Port Perry. Mr. Har old Kyte was the capable MC for the evening and called on Mrs. T. Redman, Scugog: Is- land, for a reading and to pre- side at the piano for community singing. Six of the Girl Guides sang a group of their camp songs, Mrs. Lorne Thompson played a piano solo and Mrs. W. (Archer gave a reading. The happy couple were pre- sented with a coffee table, two end tables, an occasional chair and a ker as well as several miscellaneous gifts.
