McINTYRE HOOD Special to The Oshawa Times LONDON -- Britain's atomic scientists at Hartwell have pro- duced what they think is a sat- isfactory answer to the problem of disposing of the high radio- active residue from the nuclear power stations. After three years of hard and persevering work in their laboratories, they have devised a method which they think will be effective. This was one of the secrets of Harwell revealed when the first open house day for the press for five years was held at the Harwell atomic energy research establishment. There the jour- nalists present were shown a handful of atomic "gems", with all the sparkle of diamonds, ru- bies and emeralds. But they have no jewelry market value and will never be used for per- sonal adornment. They were produced as one means of solv- ing one of the most difficult problems facing the atomic en- ergy authority.
