Mommy had four children twelve years ago and on January 17th, 1949, she had triplets, Andrea, Arthur and me % P & "I think my Mom's the greatest," because -- three years "I think my Mom is the greatest," because -- to me there Is ago my Dad was very sick and had to go to the T.B. Hospital. no one better in any way ---- She worked day and night to support my sister, my brother and myself. Nights she worked in the hospital and during the day she was schoolguard on Wentworth Street, All the children liked her, because she is full of fun. My Mom had very little sleep and looked so tired all the time, but she always had time for me. She gave me a lovely Birthday Party and made all the hats and decorations herself. She taught me how to make so many nice things. My Mom always says, "| am not good looking, but handy". | think she is pretty and my Dad thinks so too. She helps so many people, always there where help is needed When my Dad was in the hospital, my grandma came from Germany to visit us, After five weeks here she died. At the same time my dog got hit by a car. She did not have much money, but she put the dog in the hospital, so that he could be well again My Mom had so many worries at that time, but she never forgot to smile. Last year, on Easter Monday, a car hit me, when | was riding my bike. | was in the hospital for a long time. My Mom nursed me all the time. She stayed on my bed all night, when | had my operation. The accident was terrible, but because my Mom wa beside me, the pain was not so bad. That is why "I think my Mom's the greatest." | love her. Roy-Udo Lingen, (8 Years) 1024 Cedar St., Oshawa. MOTHER'S DAY is the one day that every son and daughter throughout the land pay homage to their mothers. It takes a lot of loving trom every Mother to keep a family happy, and that's one of the things that is so very special about being a mother. In this special supplement of the Oshawa Times, we have done an ""About-Face" and have asked the children just how much they love their "MOMS", The judges in this If | had the time to sit and watch a rosebud slowly open, unfold its delicate petals and grow more beautiful day by day, | think my mother's heart would 'be much the same. Her heort blooms with love and in that way it also has beauty. Yet the flower is different, for it soon must die, but my mother's love for me lives on and on Sometimes | might think she 'is very unfair, especially when she becomes angry and scolds me. But | know now, that this only shows her care for me and her wish to teach me what is right and what is wrong. Almost every little thing my mother does for me, brings out her love; even down to the iime when she let me have the last piece of cake, my third helping too, when she had not yet tasted it | could go on to say that' my mother's the greatest because she washes and mends my clothes, because she always remembers to surprise me on my birthday, but I'm afraid that | would go on for pages and poges listing every little reason, The only way | can thank her for being what she is, is to give her my love in return, Gordon Mushynski, (12 Years) R.R. No. 4, Oshawa. (Anne), so God must have thought she was special too, because not every Mother can have three babies on the same day. My Mother is real nice too. She has a lovely smile and looks pretty when she is dressed up. She teaches us our prayers and takes us to church. She sees that we do our homework, and helps us when we ask her to. If we are late getting home from school Mummy worries, but when she sees us she is very happy. We have much fun together. On Wednesday ot five o'clock we go to dancing lessons so Mummy will be proud of us. On Friday night we stay up until 11 o'clock and watch our favorite programmes on T.V., we also have special treats. On Saturday Mummy takes us to the C.R.A. for drama class which we enjoy. In the afternoon we do our work and after supper we take our bath and shampoo our hair, put it up for Sunday. Mom has another treat for us. In the Summer holidays my Mom and Dad take us on trips and we see many dif. ferent and interesting places. My Mom shows us how much she loves us by teaching us right from wrong, and by all the kind things she does for us. I'm glad we celebrate Mother's Day because we can show her how much we love and appreciate her on her extra special day. | pray that God may bless and watch over her for the many sacrifices she has made for us and the abundant love she has showered on us. Anne Fernandez, (14 Years) 571 Veterans Ave, contest had a tough time choosing three winners . . . however, every one of the children who wrote letters deserve a world of congratulations and credit, and it is truly unfortunate that all could not win. In this special supplement we have reproduced every letter word for word, exactly as it was written by the various children. We extend congratulatons to every child who entered this contest , . . and to every mother we say, "Happy Mother's Day" !
